The squares and oppositions are the wrinkles in the fabric of our lives that call out for ironing. The full moon of May 6, 2012, occurs in the fixed water sign of intense, intuitive, Scorpio. As I looked at the aspects occurring in the chart for the full moon, the sense of something hidden, which must be faced or found, came to me, as well as the full potency of potential fertility and abundance. The moon in Scorpio opposes the sun, loosely conjunct Jupiter in Taurus, bringing hidden beliefs surrounding prosperity and materialization to light. Another opposition, between Mercury in Aries and Saturn in Libra, points to the relationship, mirroring, polarity, comparing, blaming, beliefs or behaviors that may require attention. A third opposition, between Mars in Virgo and Neptune in Pisces, can make the expanse between the material and spiritual world seem unbridgeable. Confusion, disappointment, doubt, and swinging between what is “real” and what is formless is possible. Doubt leads to questions, which lead to searching, which leads to answers. I see an image of the ocean surf tumbling sharp shards of glass into beautiful pieces of soft beach glass, as well as an image of a devotee repeating a mantra over and over. Understanding, contentment or peace may not come quickly or easily. It may take deliberate mindfulness and repeatedly returning to the question or the present moment to find the perfection and peace you seek. Finally, there is a square aspect between potent, controlling, powerful, transforming Pluto in structured, success oriented Capricorn and change maker, genius Uranus in pioneering, assertive and egocentric Aries. Change and transformation may be uncomfortable, but inevitable, forced, or necessary. It may also be time to break from some form of restriction or dependence or to accept personal responsibility.

These “hard” aspects are the work of this full moon. Of course, there are supportive, easy aspects between planets as well, but are they really worth mentioning now? I feel like they might be used as excuses for not digging into the dirt and sweating through the transformation. The news online today has pictures of the “super moon”. It is huge! It just begs to be delved into more deeply.
I feel like all our focus should be on the Scorpio energy of penetration – to really look inside ourselves, to really look at our relationships, motivations, fears, and to perceive the full potential of our manifesting ability.

The thought of “something more” came to me with this full moon in Scorpio. I love to use the Sabian symbols when I look at charts, but I don’t often mention them in chart interpretations or energy reports because I get feedback from people that they are already receiving too much TMI or “astrologese”. Goodby Mercury retrograde in Aries, hello full moon in Libra! Have the last few weeks been as intense for you as they have for me? Even though the Mercury retrograde is behind me, I still feel like I must tread carefully, especially when it comes to issues of relationship. The temptation to extend my hiatus from the Internet to the date when retrograde Mars also turns direct, which is April 14th, is strong, but the sudden increase I have in requests for readings this week made me decide to return to my usual horoscope posting routine. People are able to look ahead toward the future, now that Mercury moves ahead. The key words that came to me when I was reviewing the retro energy of the last few weeks are “primal” and “selfish”. By turning away from the electronic world as much as possible, I reconnected to the wonder of nature and my garden and spent pleasant hours in my own head. Mercury retrograde computer and communication issues hit me yesterday and seem bent on continuing today, therefore, I am going to be running a virus scan, trying to figure out why my gmail has connectivity issues when the signal strength says connected and excellent. Not only is Mercury retrograde acting up today, but the moon has entered the serious, rigid cardinal earth sign of Capricorn, where it will be moving closer to the potent influence of Pluto as the day progresses. And together, the willful moon/Pluto pair are forming a square to Mercury retrograde conjunct Uranus in Aries.

Elementally, water puts out fire. I see the image of a perfectly built campfire . A scout is striking one match after another in an attempt to light the fire, but it is raining, and the rain extinguishes each match the scout manages to light just as the tongue of flame touches the wet wood of the campfire. This may be viewed as mildly humorous or pitifully sad, depending on whether we have “been there – done that” ourselves and can identify with the scout. We can see the benefits of constructive thoughts and right action now – no matter how messy or uncertain something may appear, improvement is logical and attainable. A quincunx occurs this evening between the Virgo moon and Neptune in Pisces, as well as a semi-sextile aspect to stabilizing Saturn in the relationship minded sign of Libra.
